Fingerprint is set in a school where The Shout's unique brand of non-narrative music theatre finds a multitude of ways to explore the tensions between personal and group identity; the daily battles generated by the teachers’ desire to absorb the individual into the mass and the pupils’ need for self expression, encapsulated by the heated debates around the hoodie and the hijab.

The piece follows the performers through a school term – registration, assimilation, rules and rebellions, illegal clothing, learning and failure to learn, insubordination and bullying……..ending with a strange end-of-term entertainment. Through monologues and conversations, solo, group and ensemble songs - Fingerprint considers the new role of the individual in our society.
